Gambia’s The Scorpions will face Tanzania Taifa Stars in an international friendly match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam from 4:00pm East Africa Time on Sunday 12th November.
Gambia is returning to international football since September 5 when they played aganist Cameroon away in Limbe and will be in a search for favourable result to avoid recent plummeting.
“In order to improve our rankings we need to be in the best competitive mood, we are happy that we shall provide a friendly match to our boys against Tanzania. We shall be competitive and also assess the form of our players individually,”said the reliable source.
San Ndong -coached side have not enjoyed good run of late, losing 2-0 in their last 2017 Afcon qualifiers match aganist Indomitable Lions,finishing last in the Group M that had Mauritania and South Africa.
The results saw Gambia slump in FIFA rankings to position 176 in the World and 50 in Africa ahead of Seychelles, Djibouti, Eritrea and Somalia respectively.
Statistically, the Taifa Stars stand head and shoulders above Scorpions.They are ranked 132 by Fifa, 44 places above the Scorpions.
Besides that playing Taifa Stars at their own backyard at the intimidating 65,000-seater National Stadium will make Ndang’s players have a feel of what it means to run out under intimidating conditions.
