The 10th edition of the Sportpesa Super 8 Soccer Tournament which is organized by Extreme Sports Limited kicks-off in earnest on Saturday 6 August with the preliminary rounds at different location across Nairobi County.
This year a total of 71 teams from the eight regions (former constituencies) have registered to take part in the much celebrated tournament which the winner will pocket a cool Ksh 100,000 from the organisers.
The competition, under the #WakilishaMtaaYako slogan has the regions divided into two, the East and West conferences where the teams from both regions will battle it out for the trophy and the cash prize.
At the end of the competition in November, two teams from both conferences will be promoted to the SportPesa Super 8 Division One League which is the second tier of the SPS8 League. The first is the SportPesa Super 8 Premier League.
Among the 71 teams, Dagoretti region from the West conference leads with the number of teams who have registered for this years edition with 16 teams.
Other regions, Langata (West), Makadara (East), Kasarani (East), and Kamukunji (East) come second as they have all registered 10 teams apiece while Westlands (West) follows with 6 teams as Starehe (West) and Embakasi (East) complete the list with the 5 and 4 teams correspondingly.
