By Dom Agbakpe,
Three players of Asante Kotoko have reportedly been invited for Ghana’s
final 2019 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier vs the Harambee Stars of
Kenya.
Captain and defender, Amos Frimpong, midfielder Kwame Bonsu and goalkeeper,
Felix Annan have been outstanding in the ongoing 2018/2019 CAF Confederation
Cup campaign for the Porcupine Warriors.
Felix Annan and Kwame Bonsu played a key role in Asante Kotoko’s 3-0 beating of
Zambia’s Nkana FC on Sunday while Amos Frimpong missed the game through
suspension.
Amos and Bonsu are earning their first call-up into the Black Stars as Annan
has already made his debut.
Head Coach, Kwesi Appiah is expected to name his squad for the game on Monday,
March 11, 2019.
The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 23, 2019.
Ghana lost the first leg 1-0 to Kenya at the MOI International Sports Center in
Nairobi last September.
A win against the West African nation will see them top Group H with 9 points
while a draw for the visitors will see them claim topspot.
The draw for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will held on April 12,
2019 in Cairo, Egypt.
The 24-team tournament will kick-start from June 21 to July 19 and will played
across five host cities namely; Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said, Suez and Ismaily.
