Copper Queens Coach Beauty Mwamba has declared the team ready for their Cosafa Women Championship opening fixture against Mauritius tomorrow (Thursday).
Mwamba told FAZ.football.com that the girls had prepared adequately and everyone was enjoying a clean bill of health.
She said Margret Belemu and Lushomo Mweemba who had picked knocks had fully recovered and resumed training.
“We have told the girls to take each game seriously, every team is competitive and our group is tough,” she said.
Zambia are placed in Group B alongside Mauritius, Namibia and Botswana.
“The group is tough we can’t underrate any team. We have lost to Namibia before at the 2014 AWCON and we have equally beaten them before. Botswana has also improved in terms of both their men and women teams,” she said.
She also urged the girls to utilise the Cosafa tournament to market themselves for opportunities to play in Europe.
“Cosafa is a good platform, look at Barbra (Banda), Misozi (Zulu) and Kundanaji (Rachael) they were all spotted at the Cosafa,” she said.
The trio who ply their trade in Europe will not be available for the Cosafa due to club commitments.
She added that the team was also aiming at replicate the Chipolopolo that recently won the Cosafa men tournament that was held in Durban.
Zambia takes on Mauritus on Thursday at 12:45 at Wolfson stadium with the game live on #SS9, #SS9 Africa, #Select Go, #Maximo 360.
