Obour Land sponsored Egyptian Premier League will resume on February with 18 times champions Al Ahly looking to extend their lead having finished at the top of the table with a massive 45 points in an eighteen teams table.
In what shows that they remain top contender, Al Ahly were unbeaten in fourteen matches out of seventeen games registering three draws in the process.

1.Sponsorship
In the start of the season Obour Land took over from Vodafone as the main title sponsor of Egyptian League.The latter signed undiclosed deal as the league sponsors.
2. Top player
Suprisingly the best player of the league emerged from their rivals Makassa FC.Ahmed El-Shikh joined the side on a year loan from Ahly and has emerged as one of the best talents this season.
The pacy forward scored 9 goals making him one of the main contenders for the golden boot award.
3.Empty stadiums
Most unfortunate thing is that no fans are allowed to attend the matches owing to Egyptian Ministry of Interior’s decision leaving fans to realy on television to catch the action.
In all matches played it is only in one match that the goverment allowed 3000 fans to attend the derby match between Zamalek and Ahly 28th Dec.2016 where 38 times winners Ahly grabbed the vital three points in their march for 19th title.
4. Players Displine
569 yellow cards were awarded in the league and its important to note 340 red cards were awarded. This shows how mulky is the league.
More suprising is that 78 penalties were awarded by referees and out of that the players have scored 57 goals from penalty kicks.
The 18th round of matches starts on 13th February this year with the Dakhlia facing Aswan, Tanta will entertain Makassa while Wadi Degla tussling out with Petrojet as Arab Contractors face off Ittihad Alex.
Second day matches of the 18th round will be played on Tuesday 14th February where Ismaeily will entertain Ahly whreas Zamalek will weigh their weight aganist Intag Harbi.
