Kenya’s National Soccer team tactician Scot Bobby Williamson has described the AFCON 2017 qualifier match against the Chipolopolo a must win for his side.
Zambia are scheduled to fly out to Kenya’s capital Nairobi on the 4th day of September where they will play their second Group E match on September 6th at the Nyayo National Stadium.
‘This is a big match that we need to win. All teams have equal chances of progressing and so we have to take advantage of playing at home’ Williamson was quoted by Zambian daily newspaper ‘The Post’
Zambia played to a goalless draw against minnows Guinea Bissau at home in Ndola while Kenya held Congo 1-1 away.
Kenya last qualified for the AFCON tournament in 2004 where they got eliminated in the first round although they beat Burkina Faso 3-0.
The other group match will see Congo play against Guinea Bissau in Bissau.
Meanwhile, Zambia have secured an international friendly match against Gabon to be played on Tuesday September 8th, just two days after their AFCON clash against Kenya.
The friendly match will be played at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka and will kick off at 6:30 pm under floodlights.
FAZ communications Manager Nkweto Tembore said the contingent carrying the Zambia national team including the Technical bench will fly back to Lusaka after the match against Kenya to honour the friendly match which will be played on a FIFA friendly day.
