The National Security Service detained two players of South Sudanese National Football team and released them yesterday.
According to sources in Juba,James Joseph and Isaac Mataya were held without charge for more than 24 hours the legal maximum before being presented to a judge.
The reason for their arrest was not clear although a source intimated to soka25east that it could be over a contract dispute involving another player.
The player in question is Sharif Sheibun,an Al Mereikh promising Youth player who was headed to Al Merreikh senior ranks but was being sort by rivals Al Hilal in the Sudan league.Sheibun is reported to be in Juba and is linked to South Sudan side Al Malakia.
His disappearance however is what spiked the arrest of the two players and Sheibun’s case may stem from rivalry between Hilal and Merreikh
The security personel have completed final procedures for the release of the players with the health of the two said to have deteroriated owing to the detention.
