The Rwanda Amavubi has improved by a massive ten places from 101 to 91.They now have 338 points and are 23rd in the continent with their opening match opponent in the 2016 CHAN Ivory Coast leading the African Rankings and are placed at position 19 in the world.
The rise in the rankings was attributed to their splendind performance in the 2014 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup where they finished second to winners Uganda.
Rwanda is placed second in the Cecafa region, behind Uganda which rose to 62nd in the world and 12th position in Africa. Kenya is third (101), Burundi is fourth (110) and Ethiopia is fifth (118).
Meanwhile,Rwanda National Team coach Jonathan Mckinstry has named his final 23 man squad that will do duty in the CHAN tournament that is set to begin on January 16th to February 7th.
The coach kept faith in the squad that reached the finals of the CECAFA Challenge Cup losing to Uganda by a solitary goal.
