After weeks of waiting and seven postponements , the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Elections Board has settled on February 10 as the official date for the national polls.
In a statement signed by chairman Donald Kipkorir, the board confirmed that the exercise will start with a repeat of sub-branch polls with branch elections set for January 14.
“We are pleased to state that the Sub Branch elections were successfully conducted and only three (3) out of Seven (7) appeals ordered repeat elections,” read the statement.
“The Electoral Board has rescheduled new dates for the completion of elections of the Sub Branch by- Elections, Branch and National elections being this date of January 14 and February 10, 2016, respectively. We reiterate that elections held and those that continue being held in the most transparent manner.
“We have staggered up dates to enable full participation of stakeholders and for any complaints to be solved that may arise,” it added.
The board has been accused of taking Kenyan’s for a ride after failing to ensure the much anticipated elections take place as earlier scheduled.
Alot of sentiments have been given with most stakeholders accusing the football electoral board chairman of having sinister plans as put to Soka25east.com by a senior disgruntled football official who sort anonymity.
“We see the delayed elections as a calculated move to try and ensure that status quo is maintained and that has been a big cause of worry to all the football stakeholders. Its wrong for the board chairman Mr.Kipkorir to hold the process in ransom as he has clearly demonstrated that he does not care what Kenyans feel”the official said.
