AS Kigali produced a virtuoso perfomance to upset Moroccan side Diffa El Jadida 1-0 in an exciting Caf Confederation cup match played on Saturday afternoon at the Stade de Kigali Stadium in the capital.
It was a moment of truth for Rwanda Peace Cup champions who fought tooth and nail to upset their more fancied opponents Morocco’s Difaa Hassani El Jadida in the first leg of the 1/8th round of the Caf Confederation Cup at Stade de Kigali.
The solitary goal gave the Rwandese an advantage as they await their second leg match to be played next weekend in Morrocco.
The players who were promised hefty bonusses fired from all cylinder denying their opponents any opportunity to equalize.
AS Kigali scored three goals and conceded two in the preliminary and first rounds as they eliminated Burundian side Academie Tchite and Al Ahly Shendi of Sudan respectively.
AS Kigali coach Andre Casa Mbungo continued to maintain a perfect home record of not conceding a goal at home.
Star striker Bodo Ndikumana and impressive midfielder Muhammed Mushimiyimana missed the game. Ndikumana is recovering following a road accident, while Mushimiyimana sustained a knee injury in a league clash against Police FC.
