FT Nigeria 4-1 Niger
After a goal-less and dull first half devoid of the adrenaline, the super eagles of Nigeria turned on the heat on their west African counterparts Niger in the second stanza of the clash thrashing them with no mercy.
The second group “C” encounter at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo produced nothing but football heaven before a capacity crowd who enjoyed every bit of the action.
An early second half goal by Nigeria’s Moses Okoro was the master key that opened the floodgates as goals freely flowed thereafter. Super sub Chikatara Chisom Elvis engineered the destruction – putting his name on the scoresheet for the first time in the 74th minute from a right foot cracker to double the lead.
Francois Zahoui’s charges threatened a comeback when another substitute Adebayor Zakari Victoreen Adje scored a contender for the goal of the tournament in the 80th minute but the Sunday Oliseh men responded fiercely two minutes later.
Man of the match Chikatara was the destroyer again grabbing a brace while restoring Nigeria’s two goals gab, he then added the fourth in the 90th minute to spark wild celebrations on the touchline. Nigeria take charge of the group with three points while Niger stay bottom – Tunisia and Guinea share a point each.
