Kenya’s CAF Confederations Cup cup representatives Bandari fc jetted back in the country on Monday evening from Lubumbashi, Congo, after their 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the preliminary match against St Eloi Lupopo on Sunday.

After a stellar performance in the league opener clash, the Supersport/Dstv Super Cup cup, against League defending champions Gor Mahia a week ago, belief was rife that the coastal boys would yield positive results away.

However, this was not to be, as the Congolese ensured they were one foot in to the second round by firing two goals past the visitors.

Following his interview with Soka25east.com soon after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Head Coach Twahir Muhidini has attributed the loss to simple mistakes by the players.

“The boy’s committed simple mistakes that could have been avoided. These are technical issues that the bench will iron out before the second leg slated for two weeks time here in Nairobi”

The team is keeping faith to overturn the scores and guarantee themselves a shot in to the next round.

“Elloi Lupopo is a beatable side. We still stand a chance. We have 90 minutes to overturn the score and am sure the players are capable of doing just that” added Muhiddin

Kenyan Clubs have been a thorn in the flesh of St Elloi Lupopo, after eliminating the Congo side from the CAF championships at this stage on numerous occasions.

Among the teams have eliminated the club in this stage include the 2009 Kenya premier league champions Sofapaka.

Bandari will however, not be returning to Mombasa anytime soon, as they are set to kick of the 2016, Sportpesa premier league this coming Thursday, when they take on Nairobi City stars at the Nyayo national stadium
