Daggers drawn as Simba,Yanga clash in the Dar Es Salaam derby

Simba fans have a date with football destiny as they go to the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam tomorrow Saturday full of expectations as they clash with bitter arch rivals Yanga in the local derby.

Simba have had a great season so far maintain a six game winning streak a stastistic that is full of implications in what is billed as one of the best derbies in Africa that grips the entire nation.

The Enormous pressure for both teams is palpable as they both seek not only the Vodacom Tanzania premier league points but the bragging rights which come with a price.

Simba under new coach Jackson Mayanja who replaced sacked Dylan Kerr are the league table toppers with 45 points in 19 games while Yanga are second with 43 points in 18 games, and Azam are third with 42 points in 17 games.

Yanga who seemed to have the best squad have been silent as if they terrified after shouting and strutting of their rivals Simba who are roaming the streets expecting a sweet revenge from the 2-0 first leg loss.

Yanga have had disappointing two league matches against Coastal Union that they lost 2-0 and drew 2-2 draw with Tanzania prisons while outlining the bad r African Champions League against Cercle de Joachim of Mauritius.

Simba was formed in 1935 while their rivals Yanga in 1936 ever since the rivalry has always gripped the country and Saturday will not be different as they once again clash in the battle of titans.

Yanga have won the Tanzanian league title 25 times while Simba have won it 18 however Azam brought in a new revolution breaking the ice between the two giants but it has not been sufficient to stop their continued domination in Tanzania.

Meanwhile referee Kipyenga Jonesia Rukyaa has been given the onus of officiating in the big match that is expected to draw thousands of fans in Dar Es Salaam.
