Army side Green Buffaloes have stormed into the finals of the Samuel Ndhlovu charity shield cup after a clinical 1-0 victory over giants Zanaco FC.
the bankers who looked favourites after having a double over the soldiers in the 2015 League started the match on a high with Charles Zulu and Rodrick Kabwe raiding the Buffaloes défense.
Bufaloes Jack Chirwa could have put the soldiers ahead but his shot went wide.
The moment of truce came in in the 41st minute when Adrian Chama finished well a Friday Samu header home a corner from inspirational captain fantastic Chris Katongo for a half time lead.
On resumption Zanaco pressed hard for an equalizer and even the introduction of Boyd Musonda for Isaac Chansa in the 61st minute bore no fruit.
Zanaco’s real chance came in the 75th minute but Rodrick Kabwe’s left foot shot was stopped by the defenders
Green Buffaloes brought in Diamond Kwekwe for Happy Kaunda as Zanaco did a quick substitution in succesrion bringing on Augustin Mulenga for Rodrick Kabwe and Victor Chimbuku fir Sébastien Mwanza.
The win sends the soldiers to the final and they wil meet the winner between zesco and power dynamos who meet mater on in the day.
