Tanzanian giants Yanga qualified for the second round of CAF Champions league matches when they upset visitors Cercle de Joachim of Mauritius 2-0 in Dar Es Salaam.
The victory gave them a 3-0 aggregate win after a 1-0 first leg win away at the George Stadium in Mauritius a fortnight ago.
Yanga will now meet Rwanda Champions APR in the next round of matches in what is expected to be a mouth watering clash.
Yanga missed their dependable Zimbabwean striker Donald Ngoma but Amissi Tambwe gave them an early goal heading in from a beautiful Simon Msuva cross.
Despite the early set back Cercle de Joachim continued their aggressive attack with their right winger Pithia Loius Fabien giving so much headache to the Yanga defenders who however remained relentless closing all loopholes..
Yanga went into the break leading 1-0 and upon resumption the coach immediately effected tactical changes bringing on Paul and Ngoyani for Mbuyu Twitte and Maulid Busungu respectively.
The changes immeditely bore fruits in the 56th minute Zimbabwean international Thabani Kamusoko scored a beautiful scotcher from 31 yards out beating a hapless Godfrey Yew Abrefa in Cercle de Joachim goal to give Yanga a deserved 2-0 lead.
The visitors lost a glorious opportunity to pull a goal back after a defensive blunder by defender Vincent Bossou gifted Luis Fabien inside the 18 box but the player fluffed the golden opportunity with only the keeper to beat.
Yanga held on to the two goals frustrating their opponents until the final whistle as they celebrated the win just ahead of their clash with APR who also beat Mbabane Swallows from Swaziland.
