Rwanda champions, APR have appointed Tunisian Nizar Khanfir as head coach on a six-month seal, the club’s Secretary General Adolphe Camalade Kalisa has confirmed.
He replaces Emmanuel Rubona who had been working in an interim capacity since last September.
The appointment of Khanfir comes barely a week ahead of the Orange CAF Champions League 1/16th round showdown with regional rivals, Young Africans of Tanzania.
“We have signed him on a short contract for six months. We need to see him in the second round of the league, CAF Champions League and the CECAFA-Kagame Cup.
After that we will make an assessment to see if we can give him long time contract” Kalisa told Soka25east.com
Khanfir is expected to arrive in Kigali on Sunday (6 March 2016) to begin his new role. He will be assisted by Emmanuel Rubona, who was initially in charge of the youth team of the Rwandan champions.
He parted ways with local side, Stade Gabesien a week ago following a mutual agreement. The new trainer was a member of the Tunisia coaching staff during the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal last December.
