Rwanda’s Amavubi coach Johny McKinstry who was in Kenya over the weekend has intimated he may not risk Gor Mahia’s striker Jacques Tuyisenge for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifer double header against Mauritius later this month Soka25east.com can reveal.

Since his move from Rwandan side Police FC in a US$40,000 deal, Jacques Tuyisenge is yet to make his debut for Kenyan Premier League champions, Gor Mahia as he is currently recovering from an ankle tendon injury after helping Rwanda to the 2016 CHAN quarter final as a result McKinstry feels the player needs more time to recuperate before calling him back to the National team.

“We will not risk Tuyisenge for Mauritius. Before then, he needs to have played at least three games. I have other players who have  played 20 games, if they see someone else who’s played less coming in then it might hurt their motivation and confidence,” said the 30-year-old tactician.

Tuyisenge was inspirational in Rwanda’s campaign at the CECAFA Senior Challenge in Ethiopia as well as CHAN 2016, hosted by Rwanda in which Amavubi reached the quarter-final before losing 2-1 in extra time to eventual champions, DR Congo.

Amavubi will travel to Port Louis on March 24, two days before the first leg match while the return leg will be played on March 29 in Kigali. Rwanda and Mauritius are tied on three points, three behind Group H leaders Ghana after two rounds of qualifiers.
