Football Kenya Federation(FKF) will pay new coach Francis Okumbi Ksh 500,000 equivalent to $5000 soka25east.com can reveal.
For Okumbi the new paycheck comes as great relief as he earned Ksh 120,000 when he was the head coach of current league leaders Mathare United.
Okumbi’s assistants Musa Otieno and Frank Ouna will each earn ksh 400,000 and 300,000 respectively as the new federation sought to cut costs by employing local coaches.
Previous coach Bobby Williamson earned a whooping Ksh 2.5 million equivalent of $25,000 an amount that would have paid the entire current Harambee Stars technical bench.
Just days after being elected new FKF President Nick Mwendwa relieved Williamson off his duties saying that even though he was owed ksh 30 million they felt as a federation they would not be able to pay his hefty salary as the former federation led by Sam Nyamweya left a ksh 170 million debt.
