New FIFA President Gianni Infantino will on Wednesday 23 make South Sudan his first stop in Africa since ascending to the helm of the World Football body on February 26.
Infantino’s schedule while in South Sudan, the youngest member of FIFA include; official unveiling of newly constructed South Sudan Football Association Headquarters in Rock City at 11:30 AM, then later on in the evening he will be the guest of honor when the Bright Stars take on visiting Squirrels of Benin in the AFCON 2017 qualifier match.
The development is viewed as a positive vibe for the young nation, and for Africa continent as a whole, whose Confederation (CAF) had a different choice during the last FIFA presidential election.
South Sudan are second in group “C” of the qualifiers behind Mali after a win over Equatorial Guinea last year, ( their first ever international win). They lost to Mozambique 5-0 in the second match of the group and are seen as favorites in the tie against Benin tomorrow.
