As they are placed at the bottom of Group G, Chad will be under pressure to bag a victory when they host Tanzania in a 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.
The Wednesday tie allows the Les Sao to do everything they can in front of their home supporters and revive their hopes of reaching Gabon next year.
Coached by Mahamat Omat Yaya, the hosts have started their campaign badly if their previous two results are anything to go by.
They lost 5-1 to group leaders Egypt and also succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the second-placed Nigeria.
Despite their poor run in the Afcon Qualifiers, they participated in the 2016 CAF African Championships Qualifiers to Rwanda but failed to qualify.
Apart from these results, they also missed out on a chance of reaching Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers as they were thumped by the Pharaohs 4-0 although they won the first leg 1-0.
Going into this clash, they have no points thus far following their two losses and are placed at number four behind Taifa Stars of Tanzania who have one point.
Shifting a focal point to the visitors, Taifa Stars are also under enormous pressure to ensure their hopes of reaching Gabon are alive.
They will be inspired to go all out for a win and move up the log table by winning the two-legged affair against Les Sao.
Managed by Charles Mkwasa, Tanzania lost 3-0 to Hector Cuper’s Egypt before holding the Super Eagles to a 0-0 stalemate at home.
Despite seeing a busy 2015, Mkwasa’s men lost 9-2 to Algeria in the World Cup Qualifiers and will now salvage this opportunity to play in Gabon.
2015 African player of the year(African based) Mbwana Samatta will be the captain for the first time since taking over from Cannavaro.
Speaking to Soka25east.com Mbwana Samatta intimated that they were ready to face Chad in what he refered as an important game.
“It will be my first time to take on the pitch as Taifa Stars skipper and I hope to lead my teammates to glory away from home. It’s a tough match but we are ready for the battle ahead”
On the Group’s log table, Tanzania are placed at number three with one point from their draw against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The match is set to be staged at 16h30 and the venue is Idriss Mahamat Ouya Satdium in N’Djamena on Wednesday.
