AFCON 2017 – Liberia squeeze past minnows Djibouti

Djibouti lost the third straight group ‘A’ match 1-0 to visiting Liberia in the ongoing AFCON 2017 Qualifiers on Thursday 24.

Shore-men of the Red Sea as Djibouti are nicknamed are as good as out of the race to Gabon as they lie rock bottom of the group with no point and -10 goal difference.

Lone Star goal came in the 65th minute through Anthony Loffor. The West Africans are now joint top of group ‘A’ with Togo on six points a piece – the Togolese play Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on Friday 25 with a chance to move clear at the top.

Djibouti travels to Monrovia for the reverse tie scheduled for Tuesday 29 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
