Posta Rangers fc defender Joakins Atudo has been called up to the national football team Harambeee stars to strengthen the defense ahead of the second leg of the 2017 African cup of nations qualifier clash against Guinnea Bissau on Sunday.
Atudo has been called to strengthen the back line after the suspension of dependable defender David Owino “Calabar” who has two yellow cards.
The absence of Calabar in the second leg is a big blow to the team but the new call up is capable of doing the duty as he has played for the national team a couple of times.
Goal Keeper Lucas Indeche who was in the team but never traveled to Guinea is also available for the second leg and will join the squad in their training this evening at the utalii sports grounds.
Harambe stars will also benefit from the services of Kenyan international winger Paul Were who is plying his trade with Kalloni Fc of Greece.
Were is available after missing out in last Wednesdays 1-0 away loss due to passport issues.
Stars jetted back in to the country on Thursday night after losing narrowly to the West African team.
The team is under pressure to perform after plunging in to the 4th place in group E of the qualifiers and almost shattering the hopes of playing in the continental show piece final.
This is despite having a star studded squad and the opponents ranked 44 places below Okumbi’s charges.
The performance away at Bissau has attracted a lot of criticism especially on the fielding of players.
The technical bench will be at pain on Sunday to ensure all the departments click to avoid being embarrassed at home by the visitors.
Kenya are currently bottom of Group E with one point from 3 games while Guinea Bissau moved to third with 4 points as both Zambia and Congo Brazzaville lead with 5 points apiece.
