Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League – Melta Kabiria’s renaissance continues as Jericho bounce back

Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League Easter treat continued on Monday 28 with fans turning up in their numbers to defend the wood pride in the spirit of “WakilishaMtaaYako”

Seven mouthwatering ties were lined up across Nairobi and it’s environs, and as the norm now, goals reigned.

Melta Kabiria 2-0 Shamako Babes

Melta Kabiria continued on the path of rebirth with a 2-0 deserved beating of giant killer Shamako Babes at Kawangware BP Ground for the third win on the trot.

The West Conference side seemed to have mastered the art of winning and were never wowed by Shamako who shocked Jericho All Stars 2-1 in their previous match, as they put them in their right place.

Joseph Omusaba broke the deadlock in the 25th minute from a superbly crafted goal before Benard Kamau made it 2-0 immediately after half time break, disrupting any comeback chances for the visitors.

The three points adds Melta’s tally to thirteen; they cross to top ten on the table standings.

Kiambiu 0-1 Kayole Asubuhi

Kayole Asubuhi returned to action resoundingly with a hard fought 1-0 win against Kiambiu at Camp Toyoyo.

The three points solidifies Kayole’s fourth spot on the log with 17 points, one point behind joint leaders Metro and Jericho All Stars.

After close to an hour without goals, Wanjohi Fredrick’s strike gave Kayole the lead which stood to the final whistle.

Kawangware United 4-2 Kiamaiko City

Kawangware returned to winning ways with a bang after good Friday’s disappointment annihilating Kiamaiko City 4-2 at BP Ground.

This is the second match in a row involving Kawangware that produced over five goals, after good Friday’s 4-3 loss to Shaurimoyo Blue Stars.

Red hot Francis Thairu was the destroyer in chief netting a hat trick as he lead the obliteration from the front row.

It took Thairu just two minutes to put his name on the scoreboard with Daniel Mwangi leveling four minutes later. Thairu made 2-1 in the 20th minute before grabbing a brace in the 27th minute. Kawangware made it 4-1 with Kiamaiko reducing the deficit through Samuel Gakua a minute to stoppage time.

The three points are Kawangware’s second in 9 fixtures, pushing their tally to 9 points. Both teams remain in the bottom four.

Baba Dogo 1-1 Masa FC

At Nakeel Ground, Baba Dogo and Masa FC sized each other up to a 1-1 draw in a mid table clash.

Victor Agogo broke the stalemate for Masa in the 31st minute with John Mark responding on the other end for Baba Dogo in the 77th minute. The proceedings therefore were fairly balanced and yielded no winner.

Kabete United 3-1 Shauri Moyo Sports

Kabete United produced another masterpiece with a 3-1 thumping of Shauri Moyo Sports at their backyard, ACK Kabete Technical. This coming days after another comprehensive 4-2 annihilation of Kiamaiko can only attest to a dreadful attacking forward line of the West Conference Giants.

Simon “Tinky” Ochieng served another hat trick of the day with Brian Otieno grabbing the consolation for Shauri.

Kabete moves to 5th spot on the table with 14 points, while Shauri remains static at the second position with 17 points same as Kayole Asubuhi who have inferior goal difference.

Diguna 2-0 Ajax FC

Diguna compounded Ajax’s woes beating them 2-0 in the Rongai Derby at Rongai Ground. This was the the second straight loss for Ajax who fell 2-1 to Baba Dogo on Friday 25.

Diguna left it late before breaking the ice in the 79th minute through Staus Okalo; Odindo Yuaya doubled the lead two minutes later sparking wild celebrations from fans who had thronged the home ground.

The three priceless points will see Diguna who now have 13 points break into top 10, with Ajax(10 points) sinking deeper.

Jericho All Stars 2-0 Kayole Youth

Back at Camp Toyoyo, home side Jericho All Stars bounced back to winning ways in three attempts, beating strugglers Kayole Youth 2-0.

In a match they pretty much bossed from start to finish, Jeremiah Ooro showed skill and pace, scoring the opener in 22nd minute to the relief of the technical bench.

Mercurial Eddie Kirui made it 2-0 up as All Stars took a comfortable lead.

Jericho All Stars resume the pole position, dislodging Matro Sports who have played a match less – both are on 18 points a piece but the former boosts a better goal difference.
