A brace by Dominique Nshuti and goals from Ernest Sugira, Fibna Omborenga and a late strike courtesy of Jean Baptiste Muriganeza saw Rwanda crush Mauritius 5-0 at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday.
The 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier second leg Group H encounter saw the hosts enjoying the majority of ball possession.
The second leg clash allowed the Amavubi to avenge their 1-0 defeat they suffered away to the Les Dodos last Saturday at Anjalay Stadium, and they avenged this result in style.
Coach McKinstry’s men opened their scoring when Nshuti netted in the 10th minute while Sugira followed with a double in 60 seconds.
Omborenga netted the fourth goal with 18 minutes remaining on the clock when he received a great assist from Emery Bayisenge.
With five minutes remaining, substitute Mugiraneza put his name on the score sheet as he received a cross from Muhadjiri but the goal was ruled offside.
It was not finished yet as the 2016 African Championships (CHAN) hosts converted in the 90th minute when Muriganeza made it 5-0.
Following this major win, Rwanda now have six points and occupy second spot due to goal difference having netted six. They are behind leaders Ghana who are on nine points.
At the bottom of the table is Mauritius and Mozambique, the former has six points whilst the Mambas have only one point from four matches.
