Twahir Muhiddin bemoans Muhoroni Youth’s anti-football philosophy

Bandari FC’s 1-0 loss to Muhoroni Youth on Sunday in the Sportpesa Premier League left the head Coach Twahir Muhiddin with a bitter pill to swallow.

Even though he acknowledged the “Cane Cutters” victory as deserved and blamed his side for playing exhibition football, the former Harambee Stars boss was irked with the opponent’s time wasting tactics, saying such will not take them far.

He also took issue with the league top scorer Wycliffe Ochomo whom he said had become notorious for nasty behaviors.

“Despite the loss, we played well in the first half and should have killed the game from the numerous chances we created. Later on we played exhibition football and I can say Muhoroni Youth deserved to win, because they played and showed that they wanted to win,”

“Besides that, I think they should be sportsmen, what they are doing will not take them in the future; no team has come here (Muhoroni Stadium) and left without complaining about the kind of philosophy they use,”

“I think in the second half we played not more than 25 or 30 minutes, the rest they were just lying down, kicking the ball out and the ball boys being threatened not bring in balls, that’s not sportsmanship and I think the philosophy will not take them anywhere for sure.”

About Ochomo who had a heated exchange with keeper Wilson Obungu and was booked over an incident in which Bandari defender Edwin Wafula elbowed Lwambo Bebeto, Muhiddin had this to say, “Did you see what he did to our player? He was once captured in a photo doing a nasty thing to a Posta Rangers player, so he is a notorious player, and maybe if he behaves that way outside Muhoroni he will be punished.”

The former Congo United, Ulinzi and Gor Mahia striker scored the lone goal almost immediately after the incident in the 74th minute and was later later removed for defender Wellington Ochieng.

Oh his part, Muhoroni Youth Coach James “Odijo” Omondi said Bandari should not mourn when the shoe is on the other side of the foot, “Have you ever played Bandari at home my friend, when they score first do you think you can recover?” He paused.

“Everyone has his secrets, we had to do what it takes to win, if a player is injured why not fall…I can’t play their style I had my own plan.”

Bandari Captain Wilson Obungu echoed his boss’s sentiments on time wasting, calling on officials to reign in on such behaviors for the integrity of the game.

“Muhoroni players were instructing each other to fall and waste time, and then the medical staff were just walking instead of running to the scene. I think the authority should look into such and appropriate action taken for the good of the game.”
