Gor Mahia striker Jacob Keli is apologetic for missing a crucial penalty for his side against Ushuru in the Sportpesa Premier League match played on Sunday at Nyayo.

Keli watched in dismay as Ushuru keeper Shabana Odhoji punched sideways his second half spot kick after he was hacked down inside the box.

The penalty should have earned K’Ogalo the third straight win but it wasn’t to be as the tie settled for a barren draw.

Speaking for the first time since last evening, the former KCB, AFC Leopards and Nkana FC player had this to tell Nairobi News.

“It was one of those days for me, nothing just went right,”

“I’m more disappointed than the fans. I feel sorry but I’m not so worried because I have been in such a situation before and know that I can put things straight.” He added.

In the absence of injured Rwandan international Jacques Tuyisenge and Enock Agwanda, Keli and Edmond Murai were trusted by Ze Maria to deliver goals on the evening, but on numerous occasions they were profligate in front of the net and missing the penalty seemed to have added salt injury.

The Kenyan international has since endured online trolling by the unforgiving “Green Army” who took to social media to vent their anger, with some going as far as calling him unworthy of the jersey.

Gor Mahia faces an uphill task in their next fixture against high riding Tusker FC on Saturday 16 at the same venue.
