By Tom Arika,
Minnows Telecom of Djibouti secured a shock 2-1 victory against favourites Ugandan champions KCCA in their opening game at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup on Sunday afternoon at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali.
Mustapha Mohamed broke the deadlock in the 44th minute as William Wadri equalised for KCCA in the intense match scoring in the 67th minute giving the Ugandan champions who beat Gor Mahia from Kenya 2-1 in their first game some needed relief.
Aboubakar Djama pilled misery on KCCA with last minute winner on the stroke of full time to deny KCCA their second win causing a major and the biggest upset of the ongoing Cecafa Kagame cup as Telecom registered a vital three points.
KCCA are third on the table standings tied with Rwanda’s APR and Telecom which lead in that order on goal difference. Kenya’s Gor Mahia and Atletico from Burundi each have a point.
KCCA will be up against Atletico on Wednesday at 3pm while Telecom faces three-time winners APR the same day at 5pm.
