The big question so many ardent and faithful Southampton fans are asking themselves is will Victor Wanyama sign an improved contract at Saints and re-commit to the club?

It is a tough question to answer but from the deep intrigues its only time before Wanyama drops the bombshell as the league gets to its penultimate end a decision that will make some people happy and some people sad in equal measure.

Southampton’s manager Ronald Koeman has been trying his best to tie the player down so that he could commit his future at the Saints but the same as been as hard a rock as the player reconsiders the path his future will follow.

Many fans must understand Victor Wanyama’s desire to play Champions League  football that has been the rallying call and the  prospect of being reunited with Mauricio Pochettino is enough to make anyone giddy at a time that Tottenham Hotspur have have surprised both friends and foes finishing second to book a Champions League place after a toe to toe race with eventual champions Leicester.

Despite being offered a fairly lucrative 5-year-deal, Wanyama has not been keep to sign an extended contract despite giving Southampton 100% top quality performance in a tough but sweet season for the Saints.

Spurs came in for him last summer, but the two clubs failed to break a deal, even though the Daily Mirror suggests that the Lilywhites offered £18million plus Erik Lamela, whose form has been one of the reasons behind their title bid.

If you look at it holistically and with  hindsight, that could have been a great deal indeed for Southampton, but there will be no such offer this time, unless Tottenham were to offer one of their out-of-favour midfielders such as Nabil Bentaleb.

Wanyama still remains that kind of player that anchors a team to personal and committed performance making him a mouth watering prospect for many managers in and outside England.

However even if signed by Tottenham Hotspurs  he will have to fight for his place as the teams have  an abundance of choice in the centre of the park. Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier would both toe to toe with Victor  Wanyama.

As it stands Wanyama’s heart is still wandering but the choice of playing Champions League football is too good to say no considering he made rave reviews while playing for Celtic as he made a name in playing against Barcelona.

As talks quietly simmer it will be important to watch this space and get exclusively the bombshell Wanyama and his agents will drop considering his future at Southampton, meanwhile the teams tries  to banish their reputation as a selling club, but they could be under pressure to let go of Saido Mane, Graziano Pelle, and Wanyama this summer, all of whom are set to attract interest.

Even if Wanyama does not end up at White Hart Lane a lot of managers have been salivating with the prospects of signing him as he has also been linked to 2015/2016 BPL Champions Leicester however to many Bridge fans that is tantamount to burning bridges.
