Rwandan Ernest Sugira completes bigger dollar move to DR Congo’s AS Vita

As was first reported on Soka25east.com in February, we can finally confirm that Ernest Sugira’s move to DR Congo reigning champions Association Sportive Vita is sealed.

Sugira has penned a deal worth a whooping $130,000 (Rwf100m) according to Rwanda journalist Usher Komugisha to join the Black Dolphins. The sharing formula for the windfall between the player and his current club AS Kigali as well as the duration of the contract are still kept under wrap.

The talks were initiated by Vita Coach Florent Ibenge who doubles up as the DR Congo Coach during the 2015 CHAN tournament held in Kigali,Rwanda early this year.

The mercurial talisman was one of the stand out performers for the Amavubi in the championship, scoring three goals included the equalizer in the quarter final which they lost 2-1 to the Florent’s men.

The signing of Sugira is a welcome boost for Vita who are already through to the group phase of the 2016 CAF Champions League. Vita are the only remaining DR Congo’s flag bearer in the ultimate club cup in Africa after the reigning champions TP Mazembe were relegated to the CAF Confederations Cup.

Sugira’s deal becomes the most lucratige after Jacques Tuyisenge’s shift to Kenya’s Gor Mahia from Police in February valued at USD 40,000. He has thus far netted eight times for the Rwanda Premier League side.

The player’s Football Career:

2012 – 2013 – AS Muhanga
2014 – APR
2015 – AS Kigali
