Sad moment as 11 African footballers relegated from the Barclays Premier League

Eleven African internationals have been relegated from the English Premier League after it was confirmed that Newcastle United and Norwich City join Aston Villa as the three clubs going down a division.

There is still one round of matches to be played this coming weekend.

Wednesday night’s results saw Sunderland escape the dreaded drop thanks to a fine 3-0 win over Everton, a game in which Ivorian defender Lamine Kone scored twice.

After Sunderland’s win, their bitter rivals Newcastle United were confirmed as relegated after they could only manage a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on the weekend.

Villa ended bottom with just 17 points from their 37 matches played. Newcastle and Norwich have 34 points from their 37 games while Sunderland are out of danger with 38 points.
