Medeana football club from Ghana made a dream qualification to the group stages of the Confederations Cup after sending newly crowned South African Premier Soccer league champions Mamelodi Sundowns crushing out after a 2-0 win in a thrilling encounter in sekondi

Medeana started brightly and could have taken an early lead in the 5th minute but had their goal disallowed.
Centre referee had to call for a water break in the 20th minute before Abbasi of Medeana missed a golden chance inside the downs box.
The hosts took the lead in the 35th minute after Sundowns defender Nthehte brought down Akwa in the penalty area. Malik Akwa successfully converted for a Half time lead. Mamelodi piled pressure for an equalizer but to no avail as the hosts rallied for a half time lead.
In the second half Sundowns coach Pitso brought Mala for Tako Modise. Later on Khama had a glorious chance with keeper to beat but to no avail.
Medeana shocked the visitors when Mohammed Abbas scored the second in the 65th minute with referee sending off Sundowns keeper Denis Onyango causing a lot drama at the stadium as Pitso sacrificed Bangaly for Kennedy
Medeana joins already qualified Yanga of Tanzania and TP Mazembe of DRC in the group stages.
