Wycliffe Ochomo’s first international cap could be a reality this evening as Kenya’s Harambee Stars go head to head against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in a friendly tie at Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.
The leading SportPesa Premier League goal scorer with eleven goals in fifteen matches, has made it to Coach Stanley Okumbi’s final squad for the national duty. The Muhoroni Youth striker has earned call ups to the national team before but has not been able to make the final cut.
Also in line for maiden senior cap is Gor Mahia’s sensational left full back Eric Ouma “Mercelo”; the 19 years old has been a revelation at K’Ogalo where he has burst into the competitive starting line up, just like Ochomo, he will start from bench this evening.
Zambia Super League leading top scorer Jesse Were (10 goals) who starts ahead of Ochomo is expected to replicate his Zesco United’s scoring form for country.
Defense has two returnees in Aboud Omar of Bulgaria and Tusker’s Eugene Asike. Anthony Akumu, Victor Wanyama and Humphrey Mieno will take charge of the midfield with Mathare United’s Eric Johanna and Ayub Timbe of Lierse, Belgium plying the wings.
