A case in which Simba Sports club defender also playing for the National team Mwinyi Kazimoto assaulting a journalist was brought before a Shinyanga Resident Magistrate Rahim Mushi
In the hearing that began yesterday Kazimoto is alleged to have slapped and seriously caused injuries to Mwanaanchi publications reporter Richard Mwanaiba in a Vodacom premier League match between Simba and Mbeya City that was played last year.
As the first witness, the accused Richard Mwanaiba claimed Mwinyi roughed him up, slapped him claiming he wrote a story about him that was false and even Kazimoto told him even with the slap he couldn’t take him anywhere. The second witness echoed the same sentiments adding that he heard a noise similar to a slap when he went to consult the Simba coach.
On his part, the experienced Simba player told the court that he didn’t beat up the journalist saying he only asked him why he wrote negative stories on him and he began crying.
The case was due for ruling today.
