Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel yesterday won their 10th Tunisian soccer league one Championship after coming from a goal down to beat EGS Gafsa 2-1 at the Stade Olympique in Sousse.
The Tunisian giants who are the reigning CAF Confederation cup champions and also in the race to defend the same title now have 74 points,3 points ahead of second placed Espérance who can not reach them.
Espérance beat Stade Gabèsien 2-0 in Tunisia and hoped Etoile would falter at home to have some lifeline in the title race but the Sousse based team rallied from a goal down to beat Gafsa winning the title with a match to spare.
Etoile beat Espérance 3-0 at home and drew with them 2-2 away meaning they have a better head to head record even if they lose their remaining match and Espérance win.
The team is also preparing to defend the CAF Confederation cup title after failing to qualify for the Champions League group phase losing to Nigerian champions Enyimba.
They went on to beat Gabon else side Mounana to reach the group stage of the Confederation cup where they are placed alongside FUS Rabat, Kawkab and AL Ahly Tripoli.
