Uganda Cranes and Gor Mahia midfield dynamo Khalid Aucho has scooped “SportPesa” sponsored Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) player of the month of May accolade in the Kenyan Premier League.

Khalid floored three to the coveted crown, including; John Makwata of Ulinzi Stars, teammate Eric “Marcelo” Ouma and Sony Sugar FC’s Fredrick Onyango “Ucho”.

It is in the month of May that the former Tusker FC player produced a virtuoso performance for both club and country as he regained his full strength after a slow start to the season – he helped K’Ogalo to a clean sweep in the month, assisting two goals and scoring one against Sofapaka in their last game of the first stanza of the league which they won 2-0 at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.

Gor won four out of four to collect twelve points in the month and storm to the summit of the table standings for the first time this season. However they were deducted three points due to crowed trouble and hence they dropped to fourth on the log.

Khalid would also score for country in their crucial AFCON 2017 Qualifier return leg against Botswana in a 2-1 away triumph in Francistown.

For his troubles, the midfielder who is linked with a move to Scotland’s Rangers FC walks away with a glittering trophy with his name engraved on it, Kshs 100,000, 43″ flat screen TV from co-sponsor LG and additional Kshs 50,000 for his teammates.

He becomes the first Gor Mahia player to bag the monthly award this season.
