Chile 7-0 Mexico

Chile recorded one of the heaviest defeates in the ongoing Copa America with a 7-0 thrashing of Mexico in a match that Eduardo Vargas scored four goals, brace by Edson and one by Sanchez.

Chile broke Mexico’s 22 match unbeaten run in style

Mexico’s title aspirations were shattered in the most agonizing fashion as El Triple demoralized them in a scoreline that was bitter to swallow.

With just 15 minutes to go, Edson Punch fired Chile into the lead following a rebound from a Marcelo Diaz shot. Chile made their dominance take Centre stage when Eduardo Vargas doubled the lead for a half time break.

On resumption, Mexican coach Juan Carlos Osorio’s half time team talk had little to show when Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez finished a delightful passing sequence to put things at 3-0.

Eduardo Vargas scored two quick goals in a span of five minutes grabbing his hat tick with half an hour still to play.

The Chilean danger man summed up his four goal tally with a poker after defensive lapse on the Mexicans to make it 6-0 beyond the Mexican reach. Edson Punch sealed the huge scoreline making it 7-0 in Mexico’s most lopsided defeat in their history.

Chile will now play Colombia in the semi final
