Ulinzi Stars 1-1 Muhoroni Youth, (agg 1-1)
Muhoroni Youth booked maiden Kenyan Premier League Top 8 Knockout final with a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars in the second leg semi final played at Nyayo Station,Nairobi on Sunday.
Muhoroni go through on an away goal rule after a first leg barren draw last week at the same venue – they will meet the defending champions mighty Gor Mahia who thumped 2014 winners Tusker 3-0 on aggregate in the final slated for Mombasa.
Midfielder Abdallah Ahmisi was the toast of the evening for the “Cane Cutters” grabbing the all so important away goal 22 minutes into the thrilling game from Wycliffe Nyangechi’s superbly delivered free kick from the right; Abdallah who was on the far left of the goal post tapped in the ball with his thigh to animate the handful traveling Youth followers.
Ulinzi had countless opportunities to draw matters level but their forward line consisting Ezekiel Otuoma and John Makwata was always in a rush and lacked precision.
The host finally found the equalizer twenty minutes to stoppage time through Churchill Muloma who buried a loose ball from close range to revive they hopes of another, but it was a little took late in the day as Muhoroni guarded the scoreline with their lives and sail to final.
Gor Mahia 1-0 Tusker FC, (agg 3-0)
K’Ogalo made their second leg an easy task having convincingly won the initial stanza 2-0 at Nyayo last Sunday. They never slowed down still in the reverse tie today as they attacked and defended in almost equal measure.
Francis Kahata’s stunning free-kick in the added minutes of first half after Jacques Tuyisenge was brought down on the edge of the box spelt doom for Tusker who needed three clear goals to overturn the deficit.
Despite a spirited fight in the second half, K’Ogalo gave them no chance as they held on the to 1-0 lead. The Ze Maria boys head to a record third final.
