In order to get more playing time ahead of the last AFCON 2017 qualifiers fixture and World Cup 2018 qualifiers, Uganda Cranes skipper Geoffrey Massa will join newly promoted Baroka FC from Bloemfontein Celtics in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The 30 years old striker was sparingly used last season when Celtics finished just outside top ten at position eleven with 36 points.

Massa who previously played for relegated University of Pretoria “Amatuks” from 2013-15, will join Baroka who are strengthening ahead of a new life in the top league in the 2016/17 season.

His journey in the South African league started with Jomo Cosmos also relegated from 2008-09 before moving to Egypt with Itesalat and then to Yenicami Agdelen of Cyprus before returning to PSL with Amatuks.

Uganda plays the last round of AFCON qualifiers against Comoros in September, a must win match that could return them to the Africa’s biggest football scene since 1978.

The only remaining East African team in the road to Russia 2018 is in group “E” of Africa qualifiers alongside Ghana, Egypt and Congo.
