KRC Genk remained on course to UEFA Europa League qualification with a convincing 2-0 thumping of FK Buducnost Podgarica of Montenegro on Thursday night.

Two goals in each stanza from Neeskens Kebano’s penalty and Taifa Stars skipper Mbwana Samatta’s strike secured the victory.

The first leg second round preliminary fixture of the Europe’s second grade cup was staged at Genk’s Crystal Arena, Genk, Belgium, with the reverse tie scheduled a week later in Montenegro.

The host got off to a flying start and were rewarded with an early penalty two minutes past the hour mark, which Neeskens Kebano coolly converted for a slim 1-0 lead that lasted the entire half.

In the second half, the host Coach Peter Maes opted for twin strike, introducing Nikos Kerilis who is rumoured to be on his way to Nottingham Forest to partner Mbwana Samatta in attack in the 76th minute.

Three minutes later Samatta drilled the last nail on the visitors’ coffin with the second goal, which makes their work lighter in the return leg.
