With only ten matches remaining before the inaugural SportPesa Super 8 Premier League wraps up, participating teams are taking each game with extra caution.
The competition enters week 21 this coming weekend with seven matches scheduled to be played across various venues within Nairobi County.
Second placed Jericho All Stars will be looking for redemption against unpredictable Metro Sports, even as they hope for Kayole Asubuhi’s slip up against giant killers Shauri Moyo Blue Stars for a chance to resume league leadership.
SATURDAY MATCHES
JERICHO ALL STARS VS METRO SPORTS (3PM)
After sharing the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate in their first leg encounter, Jericho All Stars will be hosting Metro Sports on Saturday 16 July in a bid to write their wrongs after suffering a 1-0 loss last weekend, their second in the competition.
Jericho are a point-less of the league leaders with 42 points while Metro are 5th with 34 points.
KIAMBIU YOUTH VS SHAMAKO BABES (1PM)
Kiambiu Youth takes on basement side Shamako Babes in the early kick-off at Camp Toyoyo.
Relegation bound Shamako have not won a single match since their shocking 2-1 win over Jericho All Stars in March and will be weary of the home team who aim to bounce back from their 1-0 loss to Melta Kabiria last Saturday. The loss left them at 9th on the log with 27 points.
Shamako have a mere 5 points from a win and two draws and will head into the match as underdogs.
MELTA KABIRIA VS BABA DOGO UNITED (1PM)
West conference side Melta Kabiria welcomes Baba Dogo United at BP grounds in Kawangware for a chance to improve their point tally in the league and conference table as well.
They are currently not doing so well as they are placed 10th on the grid with 27 points while Baba Dogo are also languishing four places below with 18 points.
KAWANGWARE UNITED VS TUK (3PM)
In a West conference derby at the same venue, West conference bigwigs TUK continues with their title charge with a visit against Kawangware United.
The university students are a touching distance of the top spot at 3rd position with 37 points while Kawangware are 11th with 25 points.
SUNDAY MATCHES
KAYOLE ASUBUHI VS SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS (3PM)
League leaders Kayole Asubuhi face a litmus test of their credentials when they face off with East conference rivals Shauri Moyo Blue Stars on Sunday 17 July at City Stadium.
The Kayole outfit who claimed the top spot from Jericho All Stars last weekend after a morale boosting 5-0 triumph over basement side Shamako Babes will be brimming with confidence. But they will be cautious of Blue Stars who also had a superb outing in their last match where they felled Jericho All Stars 1-0 ranking them 4th with 36 points. The home side is leading the chart with 43 points.
DIGUNA FC VS KIAMAIKO CITY (1PM)
For the double header at Nakeel grounds, Diguna FC squares it out with Kiamaiko City.
Kiamaiko are fresh from hitting Ajax 3-0 in their previous outing that left them 13th with 23 points while the home team will bank on home advantage to gather the three points.
Diguna are at a distant 8th with 28 points so far.
AJAX FC VS MASA (3PM)
At the same venue, Ajax welcomes MASA hoping to leapfrog the East conference side on the log.
Sixth-placed MASA are 3 points above MASA who have 28 points on the 16-team chart and a win will be motivating for the home club.
