An attempted military coup in Turkey early this morning has threatened the much anticipated charity match that was to be played today in the city of Antalya to mark the 10th anniversary of Samuel Eto’o Foundation.

The Charity match was going to be a big occasion with stars and legends from allover the world invited to play to help raise money for the foundation. Argentina star Messi was just one of a number of current class players that committed to play in the match. Neymar ,Andres Iniesta, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, and Eden Hazard were such illustrious names who were set to play as well as recently retired legends such as Marcel Desailly and Jay-Jay Okocha.

It is not yet clear if the match will take place as per now no one seems to be in charge.Attempts by Soka25east.com to reach organisers has not beared any fruit.Messi has already cancelled the trip citing security concerns among several other invites.

Samuel Eto’o Foundation was established in March 2006 and was created a non-profit organization operating mainly in West Africa.

The Foundation strives to raise awareness about the needs facing the African continent.

It also offers protection to children and young people by providing emergency aid and encouraging education, basic health and social inclusion for the disadvantaged in order to help them create opportunities for the future.
