The ding dong battle at the helm of the biggest grassroots league in Africa, Sportpesa Super 8 Premier persisted into Week 21 as the title race bubbles.
Kayole Asubuhi’s misfortunes away to giant killers Shauri Moyo Blue Stars proved a blessing to title rivals Jericho All Stars who took full advantage to return to the top of the log after breathing mixed air for a week.
The East Conference big guns, slayed hapless Metro Sports 3-1 on Saturday to open a two-point gap lead over Kayole Asubuhi who were put to the sword 1-0 by Shauri on Sunday.
At the bottom end of the table Shamako Babes’ fate looks sealed as they succumb to another heavy loss for the umpteenth time this season, crushing 5-2 to Kiambiu Youth.

KIAMBIU YOUTH 5-2 SHAMAKO BABES
Shamako Babes disastrous campaign hit a new low after being battered 5-2 by hosts Kiambiu Youth at Camp Toyoyo grounds.
The relegation bound West siders will have to search deeper for their second victory in the competition where they languish at the base end of the 16-team table standing with 5 points.
James Mandela netted a treble for Kiambiu scoring in the 42, 68 and 78 minutes to inspire the East conference team to the victory.
Peter Otiri and Collins Oduor were on target for the hosts in the 48th and 50th minute respectively.
David Waweru had opened the scoring for Shamako in the 6th minute as Peter Theuri added the second for the minnows in the 75th to ensure they went down with a fight.
The comfortable win for Kiambiu sees them climb two slots up to 7th on the table standings with 30 points.
JERICHO ALL STARS 3-1 METRO SPORTS
At the same venue, Jericho All Stars pummeled Metro Sports 3-1.
Victor Walera grabbed the lead in the 39th minute as the home team took control of the opening half before Eddie Kuria slammed home the second in the 52st minute.
However, a defensive miscommunication saw Metro halve the deficit in the 63rd minute through Peter Ambetsa and soon after restart Richard Madegwa netted the insurance goal for the Thomas Okongo’s men who now command the chart with 45 points ahead of Sunday’s matches.Metro remain fifth with 34 points.
MELTA KABIRIA 3-1 BABA DOGO UNITED
At BP grounds in Kawangware, Baba Dogo United were lashed 3-1 by hosts Melta Kabiria in an entertaining match.
Sammy Agesa set Melta’s ship sailing with a 30th minute strike before Evans Vurugo added the second five minutes later as the West conference team took charge of the match with Francis Wambora firmly nodding the third goal at the stroke of half time.
In the second half, Baba Dogo reduced the deficit in the 69th minute through Humphrey Otieno but Shadrack Ateka’s men held on to the lead until the final whistle guaranteeing them three crucial points that catapults them three places above to 7th with 30 points.
On the other hand, Baba Dogo remains at 14th with 18 points.
KAWANGWARE UNITED 1-1 TUK
TUK settled for a 1-1 stalemate against Kawangware United at the same place.
It was Kawangware who scored first in the 36th minute when Michael Otieno converted a set piece from long range to the delight of the home fans but the Evans Ajala pegged the proceedings on level terms for the university students at the stroke of half time to silence the crowd.
The draw means that TUK stagnate at 3rd on the chart with 38 points as Kawangware also remains umvoved at 11 with 26 points.
KIAMAIKO CITY 1-0 DIGUNA FC
Solomon Mwangi netted the only goal of the match in the 51st minutes as Kiamaiko City overpowered hosts Diguna FC in the return leg of the SportPesa Super 8 Premier League match staged at Nakeel grounds on Sunday17 July.
After a scoreless first stanza, the visitors redoubled their efforts which paid off dearly for the West conference team who currently have 26 points at position 13 with Diguna are two spots above with 31 points.
SHAURI MOYO BLUE STARS 1-0 KAYOLE ASUBUHI
In another match, Shauri Moyo Blue Stars outwitted Kayole Asubuhi 1-0 in a captivating match at the City Stadium as David Bosire found the back of the net in the 48th minute to inspire the Ken Odera charges to the decisive triumph.
As a result the Shauri Moyo outfit now claim the third spot on the log with 39 points as Asubuhi’s stay at the helm of the league table standings was short-lived.
The early risers remain at second with 43 points.
AJAX 3-2 MASA
At Nakeel grounds in Rongai, Ajax FC gathered maximum points of the match after rousing visiting MASA 3-2 in a hotly contested match.
Bedan Kigali claimed a brace as he scored in a span of three minutes, first in the 74th then in the 77th minute adding on to Robert Mwadegu’s 69th minute strike.
Earlier on, Kevin Liyala had opened the scoring for MASA in the 40th minute with Elvis Ochieng’ netting the second goal for the Makongeni outfit in the 60th minute.
The win improves Ajax point tally to 31 at position 9 as MASA remain 6th with 31 points.
