With just nine rounds of fixtures left to culmination of the inaugural SportPesa Super 8 Premier League, the quest for the prestigious Golden Boot gong keeps getting intriguing.
Kawangware United’s Francis Thairu with 18 goals to his credit is on pole position for the award, but the chasing pack of Victor Walerah (Jericho All Stars), Jeconiah Uyoga (TUK), Joel Mutua (Kayole Asubuhi) and Eddi Kirui also of Jericho All Stars are not throwing in the towel just yet.
Victor took his tally to 15, three behind Thairu in their 3-1 demolition of Metro Sports on Saturday. Teammate Eddie was also on target in the game for his 12th goal to tie with Joel Mutua who experienced a goal drought over the weekend.
Uyoga who also failed to see the back of the net in week 21 remains third with 13 goals.
As teams jostle for different positions on the table and battles for the league crown and survival at the bottom takes centre stage, we may see reduced number of goals moving forward, however going by Week 21 exploits, it seems we are still in for more.
So who will be crowned the most lethal goal poacher ultimately?
