The raging debate on age cheating in youth competitions in Africa it appears is not ending soon.

COSAFA U17 championship that commenced in Mauritius on Friday is the latest to be dogged by accusations of the rampant vice with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Robert Muthomi confirming they will lodge a formal protest against Zambia.

Zambia thumped Kenya 4-0 in their opening group “B” fixture on Friday at St. Francois Xavier Stadium.

“Kenya will lodge a protest about Zambia fielding an overage player in our 4-0 loss on Friday at the COSAFA U17 championship in Mauritius.” Muthomi tweeted.

Muthomi is confident they have a strong case based on circumstantial evidence.

Nicholas Mulilo who scored a brace in the match is believed to be center of focus for FKF in their appeal, even though Muthomi admits they are doubting a majority of the Zambian squad.

A quick facebook search on the player indicates he could be older, his physical appearance also reveals a much older player. All these will have to be verified.

Kenya and Uganda were both kicked out of the U20 Nations Cup qualifiers this year for fielding overaged players against Sudan and Rwanda respectively.
