Sportpesa Premier League (SPL) takes a back seat this coming weekend to usher in GoTV Shield round of 32.

The league shield treat commences on Friday with a double header at Kasarani pitting National Super League (NSL) sides Kariobangi Sharks against Kisumu’s Palos FC, followed by a tie between the defending champions Bandari FC and NSL log leaders and last season’s runner up Nakummatt FC.

A day later on Saturday, the action spreads to other parts of the country, with Kisumu’s Moi Stadium hosting Agro Chemical versus Vihiga FC tie, before Muhoroni Youth takes on SPL rivals Ulinzi Stars.

In Nairobi, ten times winners Gor Mahia will welcome NSL outfit Nairobi Stima at Nyayo Stadium.

On Sunday, a western Derby will be on the cards as Kakamega Homeboyz hosts AFC Leopards at Mumias Complex; the fixture will be preceded by a clash between Wazito and Bidco FC.

One match involving Timsales versus Ushuru has been postponed awaiting Posta Rangers appeal.

Posta were disqualified from the tournament for fielding an ineligible player (John Nairuka), whose transfer from Ulinzi Stars had not been okayed by the federation by the time of taking to the field of play in the club’s round of 64 fixture against Timsales.

The matches will head straight to penalty shootout in case of a stalemate after normal time.
