Kenyan International Victor Wanyama came off the bench to score his first Southampton goal and continue their impressive start to the season with a win over 10-man Swansea.
The midfielder produced the game’s one real moment of class with a neat 12-yard finish with 10 minutes remaining.
The Saints had dominated the second half thanks largely to the sending off of Swansea’s Wilfried Bony for two clumsy fouls just before the break.
Southampton have just lost one out of their last nine games and have moved to second on the log with 10 points.
It was Wanyama’s first ever goal by an East African in the BPL as he set another record after scoring against Barcelona in Champions League while playing for Celtic of Scotland.
Wanyama has been in fine form for Southampton whom he joined last season in a 12.5 million pound move making him the most expensive East African.
