Uganda Cranes and Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA FC) footballer of the 2015/2016 season Joseph Ochaya will on Thursday morning leave for South Africa where he will undergo trials for two weeks.

The left wing-back was officially invited by South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bidvest Wits for trials last month, a move he plans to grab with open arms.

“It’s a dream of every Ugandan to play at bigger stage than the one we play locally, and I must say am excited about the development but also determined to make it work,” Ochaya told the club’s official portal.

The lanky left footed Cranes’ international last appearance in action for KCCA was in Kamuli as the reigning league champions defeated Kamuli Park 2-0, he assisted Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s header after 16 minutes.

Ochaya’s departure means he will miss the Uganda Premier League Awards slated for August 12 at Serena Hotel, he is nominated in the player of the season and best defender categories.

Ochaya joined KCCA in 2009 before going to Vietnam; he returned in 2010 before signing for Asante Kotoko in Ghana, he rejoined KCCA in 2014 till to date.

The club has committed to let go the player if he impresses.

“If he impresses in South Africa, KCCA will have no objection but agree terms with Bidvest Wits.”
