Divock Origi came off the bench to score in a preseason friendly between Liverpool and Barcelona played at Wembley in London.
Origi’s goal came just after halftime to make it 3-0 for the reds following a Javier Macherano own goal in the 47th minute with Marko Grujic getting the 4th to hand Barcelona an embarrassing hammering in the International Champions Cup.
The Belgian International born of Kenyan parents slid onto a pass from Stewart and put the ball past Claudio Bravo’s legs.
A Barcelona team comprising Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez was in shock as Origi gave the Merseyside a comfortable lead just after 48 minutes.
Senegal International Sadio Mane was also on target putting Liverpool ahead in the 14th minute. Mane latched onto a neat short pass from Adam Lallana before blasting the ball past Ander Terstegen.
Origi and Mane showed a bit of chemistry when the two exchanged neat passes around the Barcelona box before man of the match Mane put in a powerful cross which deflected off Mascherano.
Origi has now scored 2 goals in preseason, the other coming in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat against AS Roma and is looking sharp ahead of the new season.
