Nkana ended Warriors’ unbeaten home record to secure a precious 1-0 win in a FAZ Super League match played at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
Jacob Ngulube’s early goal was all that Agrey Chiyangi needed to push Nkana back in what was looking like a one horse title race.
The home side started brightly and looked sharper in the midfield with Godfrey Ngwenya leading the attack in the absence of Kasusu who was not eligible to play due to the loan agreement between the sides.
But Warriors were eventually caught out in the 10th minute as Walter Bwalya combined with Ngulube on the edge of the Warriors box before the midfielder scraped past Dick Ngwenya and beat Monga Ndala in goal.
The Warriors defensive line exposed clearly due the absence of the departed Marcel Kalonda.
Warriors pushed in vain for an equalizer with Scot Ngonkene denying Jacob Phiri a goal later on in pushing out a free-kick that was heading into the top corner.
Warriors coach Mohammed Fathi brought on Paul Simpemba and Langson Mbewe to save the game but none could make an impact.
Agrey Chiyangi also brought in Ronald Kampamba to cement the lead and Nkana eventually held on to cut Zanaco’s lead to eight points.
