Djurgardens IF twice came from behind to hold Elfsborg to a 2-2 stalemate in a Swedish top league fixture at Tele2 Arena on Sunday.
Kenyan international Michael Olunga continued with his scoring touch, chipping in the first equalizer a minute to half hour mark, for his third goal in two ties.
Per Frick had given the visitors the lead four minutes earlier. Viktor Prodell restored Elfsborg’s lead in the 50th minute, but it only lasted five minutes before Magnus Eriksson equalizer to tie the match 2-2 at full time.
Coach Mark Dempsey was pleased with the result;
“After our equalizer to 1-1, I thought we were the better team. Apart from parts of our defense game, it became very dangerous when Elfsborg hit balls into our penalty, I am satisfied with our performance. Just like in the last game (3-1 against Gothenburg), we showed character and had good quality and energy in the game. Now we have taken four points out of six in two matches and that gives us a good platform to work on from.” Dempsey said.
